Voting in Fairfield County and Connecticut | What You Need to Know

Market Intel

Election Day is here!  Are you new to the area, newly registered, or looking to confirm your polling location? You’ve come to the right place! Here’s a quick guide on where to vote and what you need to bring if you’re casting your vote for the first time.

WHERE TO VOTE

Each town in Connecticut is divided into several districts, and your polling location depends on which district you live in. You can check your polling place on the Connecticut Secretary of State’s website or by contacting your local town hall. Here’s a breakdown of locations and tips on finding your designated polling place in Westport, Fairfield, Easton, Redding, Weston, New Canaan, Wilton or Darien:

Westport: Westport residents can vote at one of five locations, including Saugatuck Elementary School, Coleytown Middle School, and Greens Farms Elementary. Your designated polling site is based on your address, so confirm in advance to save time.

Fairfield: With 10 voting districts, Fairfield voters may need to head to specific schools or community centers. Some of the polling sites include Fairfield Ludlowe High School, Osborn Hill Elementary School, and Mill Hill Elementary.

Easton: Easton has a smaller number of polling locations. The main location is typically Samuel Staples Elementary School, but it’s always best to double-check based on your address.

Redding: Redding’s primary polling location is the Redding Community Center, with smaller locations based on residency.

Weston: Weston residents typically vote at Weston Middle School, which accommodates the town’s single district for general elections.

New Canaan: New Canaan is divided into several districts, polling places serving residents include New Canaan High School and Saxe Middle School.

Wilton: Wilton High School is the primary polling place for Wilton voters, though there may be additional locations for specific districts.

Darien: With six districts, Darien residents will vote at Darien Town Hall, Hindley Elementary, or the Tokeneke School. Check with the Darien Town Clerk’s office if unsure of your polling location.

WHAT TO BRING IF YOU'RE A NEW VOTER

In Connecticut, if you’re newly registered or if it’s your first time voting at a new polling place, you’ll need to bring a form of identification. Here’s what’s acceptable:

Photo ID: A valid driver's license, state-issued photo ID, passport, or student ID will work.

Other ID Options: If you don’t have a photo ID, you can bring any document that shows your name and address, such as a utility bill, paycheck, or government document.

If No ID Available: Connecticut law allows you to still cast a ballot without an ID by signing an affidavit affirming your identity at the polling place.

VOTING HOURS AND TIPS

Polls in Connecticut are open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Arrive early, if possible, to avoid long lines. If you’re already in line by 8:00 p.m., you’ll be allowed to vote, so don’t leave if the polls are still open.

Being prepared will make your voting experience smoother and quicker. Make sure you’ve confirmed your polling place, bring the necessary ID, and plan to arrive with enough time to participate.

Every vote matters—get out there and make yours count!
